THE LEATHER
All leathers are vegetable tanned and sourced from either Europe or the U.S.A.
Each tanned hide is handpicked to ensure that only highest quality grade leather is used. (whilst cow hide is the normal material other leathers can be utilised where required).
The key features being that each hide is blemish free with a vibrant colour, combined with natural strength and consistency, along with a high level of crafting, dying and oiling properties.
Being natural products they can contain the occasional range scar or brand marks, but where present these are utilised to further enhance the originality and uniqueness of the finished article.
Hides come in a variety of sizes ranging from approx. 45sq.ft. upto 60+ sq.ft. with different parts of the hide providing differing thicknesses of leather.
The thickness of the leather used is also tailored to the nature of the finished article. This can range from 1mm to 2mm (3/4 oz) thick , right upto a 4mm to 4.5mm (10/11 oz) thicknesses, the former being utilised for very light and softer aricles eg wallets and purses, the latter being used for the more heavy duty belt or horse tack type articles.
We also ensure wherever possible that any other materials used e.g. linings etc. are also made from 100% natural materials over synthetic counterparts.
The aim at all times is to provide a natural looking quality article that satisfies the customers own particular requirements.
